What we collect
When you send a booking enquiry we collect the details you enter: your name, email address, mobile or WhatsApp number, preferred dates, the number of adults, the number and ages of children, the reason for your stay and your message. Your name and email address are required so that we can reply; the other fields are optional.
When you book, your booking and payment details are captured by NightsBridge, the booking system we use, and are handled under its privacy policy.
Like most websites, this site uses cookies and records basic technical information, such as the pages visited and the type of device used, so that it works properly.
Why we use it
- To answer your enquiry and tell you about availability and rates.
- To arrange, confirm and manage your stay.
- To keep the records the law requires, such as accounting and tax records.
We process this information because you have asked us to, because it is needed to arrange a stay you have requested, or because the law requires it. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use enquiry details for marketing.
Who else handles it
This website runs on Shopify, which hosts the site and delivers enquiry messages to us. Bookings are handled by NightsBridge. These service providers process information on our behalf and only for these purposes. Shopify stores information on servers outside South Africa; it is transferred only to service providers bound to protect it.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it to deal with your enquiry or stay, or for as long as the law requires us to keep it.
Your rights
You may ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Send requests to our Information Officer at info@whalewaters.co.za. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.
Keeping it safe
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect the personal information we hold against loss, misuse and unauthorised access.
